Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Reykjavik

Upon your arrival at Keflavík Airport (KEF), you will be transferred to your accommodation in Reykjavik to check in and settle in. A light orientation walk can help you get your bearings in the compact city center.

The remainder of the day is yours for independent exploration. You might visit the iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church, stroll along the colorful streets and vibrant harbor, and discover other city highlights at your own relaxed pace before returning to your accommodation.

After checking out, your journey along Iceland’s South Coast begins. You will first visit the stunning Seljalandsfoss, where a path allows you to walk directly behind the cascading water, followed by a short walk to the nearby hidden waterfall, Gljúfrabúi.

Your tour continues to the powerful Skógafoss waterfall before arriving at the dramatic Reynisfjara black-sand beach with its towering basalt columns. A stop at the Dyrhólaey viewpoint offers spectacular coastal vistas (and puffin sightings in summer). After a day immersed in iconic landscapes, you will check in to your accommodation in Vík to unwind.

After checking out, your day is dedicated to Iceland’s glacial wonders. A short walk in Skaftafell National Park provides stunning panoramas of the Vatnajökull ice cap. You will then visit the breathtaking Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon to see icebergs drifting toward the sea, and the nearby Diamond Beach, where crystal ice chunks lie starkly on the black volcanic sand.

Reach your accommodation in Höfn and check in.

After checking out, your journey continues along the stunning East Fjords coastline, with sweeping views where mountains plunge into the sea. You will pass through quaint fishing villages like Djúpivogur, with opportunities to spot reindeer in summer and photograph serene fjord reflections.

For the active traveler, an optional 2–3 hour round-trip hike to the beautiful Hengifoss waterfall, known for its striking basalt columns, is highly recommended. After a day of scenic coastal drives and exploration, you will check in to your accommodation in Egilsstaðir to unwind.

Your day immerses you in the dramatic nature of North Iceland. You will witness the raw power of Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, and explore the otherworldly Hverir geothermal area with its bubbling mud pots and steam vents at Námafjall.

A relaxing soak in the mineral-rich Mývatn Nature Baths offers stunning volcanic views. An optional detour to the unique Dimmuborgir lava formations is available. After a day of intense natural wonders, you will continue to Akureyri to enjoy its cozy cafes and harbor views before checking in to your accommodation in Akureyri or Lake Mývatn.

Your scenic return journey to Reykjavík begins with a visit to the majestic Goðafoss, the “Waterfall of the Gods.” The drive southwest then takes you through the picturesque Skagafjörður valleys and farmland, with mountain passes and rivers providing ample photo opportunities along the route.

If time permits, optional detours in West Iceland can include the beautiful waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, or a stop at the Deildartunguhver hot spring or Krauma Spa (enterance not included). Your day concludes with an evening arrival back in Reykjavík, where you will check in to your accommodation to unwind.

After Breakfast, checkout and be transferred to the Airport for departure to your home country with tons of unforgettable memories.
